Chapter 32: The Final Decision
Clothing Shallow Moon was somewhat annoyed. Regardless of whether it had anything to do with her memories, she couldn’t just watch as Night Tianyi gave up his life for the sake of restoring her memor...Chapter Thirty-Two: A Decisive Blow
The heavy rain continued into the second night, pouring down endlessly like a celestial river being split open.
Clover Yilan repeatedly had fever episodes throughout the day. She woke up and fell asleep again multiple times, taking medicine every time she felt unwell. Her body was weak and limp, truly fitting the saying "disease comes as suddenly as a mountain falling upon one."
Rong Jing stayed in her room all along, by her side even though his medical skills were extraordinary, he couldn't instantly cure her illness with medicine; he could only watch her doze on and off, looking listless and feeble, doing everything possible to ensure she wasn’t too uncomfortable.
On the third day, the rain lessened but it still poured. Although no longer a torrential downpour, the drizzle was extremely fine and persistent, making people feel that it wouldn't end anytime soon.
In the evening of the third day, Yilan finally stopped having fevers, though her body remained weak and limp. She lazily nestled in Rong Jing's arms, letting him read to her. Rong Jing’s voice was naturally pleasant, warm with a low magnetism that floated through the room, clear and gentle, weaving around Yilan’s heartstrings like窗外淅瀝的雨聲,讓她覺得是世界上最美妙的聲音符,以至於她隻聽容景的聲音,書中講的是什麼一個字都冇聽進去。
On the fourth day, it was still raining. Even though Yan Yue Hall's windows and doors were tightly closed these days, there was a lingering dampness to the air in the room. It seemed that even the furniture, desks, and marble floors inside had been covered with a layer of moisture.
After several days of rest, Yilan felt much better physically. She looked out at the window where everything outside was white and blurred, Yan Yue Hall shrouded in rain, cleansing all objects thoroughly. A look of concern appeared between her eyebrows. Although she enjoyed this leisurely time with Rong Jing, she couldn't help but worry about the common people outside. With a soft sigh, she said, "Such rains probably will last for several more days!"
"Hmm." Rong Jing responded and also had a look of concern.
"I believe there must be many areas flooded by now! Although rain is good for the farmland irrigation, too much of anything can turn bad. With such heavy rains continuing like this, it will inevitably lead to flooding disasters. The Sky Saint Empire has already been in turmoil, and with this deluge, it’s only adding more pressure." Yilan added.
"It has already turned into a flood disaster," Rong Jing said as he looked out the window too. "Last night, the Emperor received reports from various regions; many counties' embankments have collapsed, with countless farmhouses and good fields being flooded. Even if the rain stops now, half of Sky Saint's people would be in ruins."
"Such heavy rains indeed cause serious problems," Yilan said, "However, many of these places’ embankments are substandard; otherwise, the loss wouldn't have been so severe."
"The Sky Saint Empire has enjoyed peace for too long, with corrupt officials common. Moreover, droughts occurred year after year, people looked forward to rain but never expected such a deluge. The Emperor is wise and will be distressed by this situation." Rong Jing said slowly.
"Precaution before disaster strikes; he doesn't understand that," Yilan snapped with disdain. "He only knows how to scheme against his ministers and centralize power, making everyone cold-hearted towards him until they fall apart, leaving him alone in the end."
Rong Jing smiled faintly without responding.
"Which areas haven't been affected by disasters Or which regions suffered minor damage" Yilan asked. Although Rong Jing was isolated within the estate, she knew that he would still receive information from outside every day even as they stayed together in Yan Yue Hall during these days. She believed that Rong Jing understood the current situation better than the old emperor.
"Apart from Northern Borderland, almost all counties in Sky Saint's territory have suffered from floods; some areas are more affected while others less so due to this widespread rainstorm with no place being able to avoid it." Rong Jing glanced at Yilan and said gently. The meaning behind his look when mentioning the Northern Borderland was profound.
Yilan received Rong Jing's glance, smiled faintly, recalling how Tian Yitian alone went to the Northern Borderland later slowly consolidating control over it with her help in building up the region. Especially regarding the cultivation of barren mountains and construction of embankments and farmlands, she had applied all knowledge from her past life strictly implementing high standards, which was why the Northern Borderland wasn't affected by the disaster as expected.
"What merit does Tian Yitian have" Rong Jing snorted.
"Actually, he is talented. Those projects I proposed were implemented under his leadership; an ordinary person wouldn’t be able to achieve that," Yilan said in a flattering tone as she hugged Rong Jing and nuzzled into him. "That eight-century-old dried vinegar Let’s not eat it anymore!"
Rong Jing couldn't help but laugh at her, patting her head: "Since it's eight-century-old dried vinegar, let's forget about it."
Yilan nodded vigorously and said earnestly, "In summary, the people of Northern Borderland benefited greatly from these projects. Avoiding this flood disaster has allowed me to do some good deeds; if I were to start over, I would still help him."
"Hmm," Rong Jing responded nonchalantly.
"What about Southern Liang, Western Yan, and Southern Borderland" Yilan asked while hugging Rong Jing tightly.
"Southern Liang and Southern Borderland received moderate rain this year; it's likely to be a bountiful harvest. However, Western Yan suffered significant losses comparable to those in Sky Saint. This time, the King of Southern Borderland will have an extra six months. Meanwhile, the King of Southern Liang is benevolent, truly blessed," Rong Jing replied.
Yun Qianyue breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the Southern Frontier was fine, she felt close to the South Liang due to her father, mother, brother, cousin, uncle, and grandfather, and thus didn’t wish for the South Liang to suffer from floods too. Moreover, according to geographical reasons, it was already nearly August, which was considered a rainy season in the North. However, the Southern Frontier and the South Liang had already passed their rainy seasons back in May or June. Therefore, it was normal that neither the South Liang nor the Southern Frontier suffered from natural disasters.
The two of them did not speak anymore.
After a while, familiar footsteps could be faintly heard outside Qianyue Pavilion.
Yun Qianyue looked out of the window and saw Yun Li entering with an umbrella. Following him was Wenhua carrying an umbrella as well. She glanced at both of them and noted that their steps were somewhat hurried, clearly indicating some urgent matter. After a moment’s thought, she turned around to look at Rong Jing and said, "The old emperor can't sit still anymore!"
"Mm-hmm! He's been restless for quite some time now." Rong Jing nodded.
Yun Qianyue remained silent as she watched the two of them approach the door. Ling Lian and Yixue came out with umbrellas to meet them.
Yun Li stopped his steps, took a look inside the room, but could not see clearly due to the rainwater on the windows and doors. He then addressed Ling Lian, "Eunuch Wenhua went to the Rong Wang Mansion to find Shizizi Jing, who wasn’t at home. Upon learning that he was here, he came over. I brought him along."
Ling Lian glanced at Wenhua and nodded before turning around and heading toward the door.
"What does Your Excellency need from Shizizi Jing Is there an imperial order" Ling Lian hadn’t even opened her mouth when Rong Jing’s voice sounded inside the room.
"Replying to Shizizi Jing! The Emperor sent me here to deliver a message, requesting that Shizizi Jing immediately go to court. His Majesty has something important to discuss," Wenhua hurriedly reported.
"Alright! I'll head over right now! Your Excellency should return to the palace and report back!" Rong Jing responded.
Upon receiving a reply, Wenhua turned around to look at Yun Li. "His Majesty also invited Shizi Yun to court."
"Alright! Your Excellency should proceed first, I will accompany Shizizi Jing to the palace." Yun Li nodded.
Seeing that both of them agreed, Wenhua turned around and hurriedly left with his umbrella. His small body quickly disappeared from outside Qianyue Pavilion.
Yun Li took another look inside before leaving without entering. He walked out holding an umbrella and stopped at the door of Qianyue Pavilion, facing forward while standing against the direction of Qianyue Pavilion as if waiting for Rong Jing.
In the room, Yun Qianyue huffed irritably. "As soon as something happens, you're suddenly his favorite! But once everything is settled, he wants to get rid of you like a thorn in his flesh. This stupid emperor!"
Rong Jing chuckled softly and embraced Yun Qianyue’s slightly weak body tenderly. "One must fulfill one's duties while occupying an office, and besides, I can't just ignore the plight of countless commoners."
"True," Yun Qianyue nodded.
"I'm heading to court now! You rest well; your health is just recovering, so no running around outside. Otherwise, if you catch a cold and relapse because of it, all my efforts in taking care of you will be wasted." Rong Jing got out of bed, took the moon-white brocade robe from beside the bed, put it on while addressing Yun Qianyue.
"Understood! Don't worry!" Yun Qianyue nodded as she sat up.
"I’m not at ease," Rong Jing glanced at her. He knew that she was someone who couldn’t stay idle, and after being confined to the room for a few days with him around to keep her company, she would likely be bored once he left and might sneak out without restraint.
"I absolutely won't go outside! It's raining and very chilly outside; going out is just suffering. Don’t worry, I actually really take care of my health." Yun Qianyue looked at Rong Jing with a smile. "Do you think I'm still as ignorant as a child in your eyes Not quite! When did you become so nagging"
"That’s best then!" Rong Jing chuckled too, finished getting ready and turned to leave.
The room door opened, letting in a cool breeze. The bottom of Rong Jing's moon-white brocade robe fluttered slightly as Ling Lian handed him an umbrella. He took it with his hand and stepped into the rain, his silhouette like a painting set against the fine drizzle.
Yun Qianyue watched Rong Jing walking out the door together with Yun Li, then withdrew her gaze and lazily lay back down on the bed. After lying for some time and feeling bored, she picked up a book to read but found it uninteresting after two pages, put the book down, closed her eyes, yet couldn’t fall asleep. She tossed and turned in bed for quite a while before shouting outside, "Ling Lian, Yixue, come in!"
The two individuals responded and pushed the door open, then closed it again. A cool breeze blew in.
Yun Qianyue poked her head out from the fluttering curtains and asked the two people, "Has Hua Sheng sent any news Is Nan Lingrui safe back in the Southern Liang yet"
Ling Lian shook her head. "Sister Hua Sheng has indeed sent a message back, but Prince Rui of the Southern Liang isn't yet safely home. However, he's already left Tian Sheng's territory and is over a hundred miles past Fenghuang Pass."
Yun Qianyue nodded. "Now that it’s raining so heavily and such great disaster has struck, the old emperor probably doesn’t have any thoughts about taking his life! As long as he gets out of Tian Sheng's territory and reaches Southern Liang, he’ll be safe."
Ling Lian nodded and asked Yun Qianyue, "Do you want to recall Sister Hua Sheng and the Scarlet Pavilion people"
"No need! Let’s wait until we’ve sent him back before deciding anything else. The old emperor has deep machinations; one can never be too careful. Who knows if he might act when least expected" Yun Qianyue shook her head. "Moreover, Tian Sheng is suffering from widespread flooding while Southern Liang remains unscathed. He’s probably furious and could do something rash. Cutting off the life of the Southern Liang crown prince will make them anxious."
Ling Lian also agreed with this reasoning and didn’t say anything further.
"I heard that Western Yan is in a dire situation, and the National Guardian Goddess's responsibility would be quite significant. Are there any recent developments from over there For example, regarding Third Young Master" Yun Qianyue thought for a moment before asking again.
Ling Lian shook her head. "After Western Yan’s envoy came during the emperor’s birthday celebration, they left and haven’t contacted Third Young Master since. Currently, there are no secret activities between Western Yan and Tian Sheng; both countries have remained peaceful. No one has been found to interact with Third Young Master."
"Third Young Master continued his work as usual after taking over the Wind Pavilion, and hasn't delved deeply into matters concerning Western Yan," Yisnow also said. Suddenly remembering something else, she added: "However, a message from Scarlet Pavilion says that the National Guardian Goddess is not well."
Yun Qianyue raised an eyebrow. "Is it information from Scarlet Pavilion Does Wind Pavilion know"
"Wind Pavilion probably doesn’t know. It’s news passed by someone very close to Western Yan's National Guardian Goddess, who is trusted deeply and keeps the information secret. No one else can get this information. So even Third Young Master may not be aware of it," Yisnow said.
Yun Qianyue nodded and asked again: "How is her body not well"
"It seems like a chronic illness, with coughing up blood; probably an incurable condition," Yisnow replied.
Yun Qianyue frowned. "Coughing up blood"
"Yes!" Yisnow nodded.
"Miss, should we tell Third Young Master about this After all, she is his mother," Ling Lian whispered.
Yun Qianyue hesitated and shook her head. "Let’s not tell him for now! Ask Scarlet Pavilion to send detailed information on the National Guardian Goddess's condition back. I want to see what kind of illness it really is."
"Alright!" Ling Lian nodded.
“What about Ye Qian and Yun Muhuan What’s going on with them Are there any unusual reports from Southern Jiang” Yun Qianyue asked again.
"Princess Ye and Young Master Yun have been accompanying the Southern Liang Prince Rui. But after passing through Fenghuang Pass, Southern Liang and Southern Jiang split their routes. Princess Ye and Young Master Yun are now on their way back to Southern Jiang. It’s said that there is some confusion within Southern Liang's internal affairs; there might be some private movements among the officials and nobles, but not much action has been taken. I suspect it’s all under control by Princess Ye in secret," Ling Lian replied.
Yun Qianyue nodded. The skill of Princess Ye’s hand was beyond question. She then recalled the envoy from Eastern Sea who had arrived earlier and asked, "What about the envoy group from Eastern Sea Where are they now With such heavy rain, surely their progress has come to a standstill"
"Miss, Scarlet Pavilion never collects information regarding Eastern Sea! We don't have any covert informants in Eastern Sea. Moreover, we always avoid collecting news about Eastern Sea, so we know nothing of the movements of the envoy group from there," Ling Lian looked at Yun Qianyue and reminded her in a low voice.
Yun Qianyue made an "oh" sound. She forgot that Moutian Cliff never collected any information about Eastern Sea, not even a single word, so naturally, they didn’t have a communication network there either.
"Miss, Scarlet Pavilion may not collect news from Eastern Sea, but Wind Pavilion probably does receive some information After all, the envoy group from Eastern Sea should be near Tian Sheng’s border now. Wind Pavilion likely has basic control over their movements," Yisnow reminded her.
"Me too!" Yun Qianyue nodded and said to Ling Lian, "Go inform Third Young Master to come over here!"
"Yes!" Ling Lian replied and went out.
"Forget it! It's better not to go. Wherever the envoy team from the Eastern Sea Country goes is irrelevant." Yun Qianyue suddenly dismissed her thought when Ling Lian was about to walk out of the door, she stopped her in time.
Ling Lian stopped walking and looked back at Yun Qianyue.
"Indeed! Chatting about these matters make me sleepy. I will take a nap. You two go downstairs." Yun Qianyue waved to them and yawned, straightening her body out again.
Ling Lian and Yixue looked at each other in realization that Miss Yun called them in just so she could fall asleep faster; both of their mouths twitched and they left after nodding.
The room fell silent as the door closed. Yun Qianyue didn't bother to think anymore, and truly drifted off to sleep with her eyes closed.
She did not know how long she had been asleep when she heard light footsteps approaching Beryl Pavilion. Soon, someone pushed open the door from outside and a much lighter set of steps came in.
Yun Qianyue woke up when the person opened the door; with her eyes still closed, she saw Rong Jing walk over to the bed with his body slightly chilly. It was rare for him not to have any rainwater on him as it was raining outside. She glanced at him and said in a lazy manner: "You're back so quickly!"
"Quickly" Rong Jing chuckled upon seeing her expression; he reminded her, "I've been staying in the palace for half a day now— is this quick enough"
"So I had quite a long nap then." Yun Qianyue glanced at the gloomy sky outside and saw that it was still raining. She couldn't tell how much time had passed; she yawned, "What did the old emperor summon you for Did he ask you to take charge of flood control"
"Yes!" Rong Jing nodded.
"How are we going to deal with it" Yun Qianyue raised an eyebrow.
"The Heavenly Saint Kingdom's territory has been divided into two parts, the eastern and western halves. The 18 states in the east are under my jurisdiction while the 18 states in the west belong to Seventh Young Prince; we will tackle this separately. I'm setting off immediately." Rong Jing brushed his sleeves as if trying to drive away the chilliness.
"That's it" Yun Qianyue frowned, "So that means Night Tianyi is leaving the capital too What about regency then—who's going to take charge of it"
"The Emperor has ordered Fourth Young Prince to serve as Regent and Second Young Prince to assist him." Rong Jing replied.
"The old emperor started using those two again! He doesn't fear handing over power will be easy but reclaiming it won't!" Yun Qianyue exclaimed, "He dared send Night Tianyi off to take charge of flood control. Does he not fear those two might seize this opportunity and cause unrest"
"The Emperor has been taken care of well by Seventh Young Prince recently; his health is good." Rong Jing gave an explanation, "Besides, there's also Duke De and Night Qingran."
"So everything is still under the old emperor’s control. Even a dying camel is larger than a horse. Night Tianqin and Night Tianyu have grown up under his iron rule for many years now; with him being in good health, even if he sends Night Tianyi off to take charge of flood control, these two wouldn't dare cause any trouble at such an opportune moment— Duke De and Night Qingran are definitely a great obstacle," Yun Qianyue suddenly understood.
"Indeed!" Rong Jing seemed to feel the chilliness on his body dissipate; he walked over to embrace Yun Qianyue in his arms.
Yun Qianyue thought of what he had just said about setting off immediately and frowned, "It's still raining now. Are you leaving right away"
"The sooner we go, the sooner I can alleviate the people’s suffering." Rong Jing replied.
Yun Qianyue thought it over and realized he was right; these kinds of matters couldn't be delayed. She didn’t know how many citizens were already displaced due to the current situation, even though it was still autumn. The temperature difference at night had become more apparent. With people being cold, hungry, and suffering from a lack of shelter, it was easy to imagine the severity of the aftermath. Yun Qianyue looked up at Rong Jing and said, "I'm going with you!"
"No way!" Without any hesitation, Rong Jing immediately rejected Yun Qianyue's proposition.
Yun Qianyue was taken aback by his swift refusal. She didn’t expect it to be so quick. "My body has recovered! I'm not that delicate anymore.
"It's still raining outside, and even if your body has recovered a bit, you wouldn't be able to handle it," Rong Jing said.
"With you by my side, I can manage. The rain is getting smaller now." Yun Qianyue nuzzled her head against Rong Jing and asked softly, "Are you willing for me to suffer Controlling the flood isn't easy, especially with eighteen states involved! You'll be gone for quite some time. Don't tell me you don't miss me If I'm by your side, you wouldn’t have to worry about me."
"Because it's not easy, that’s why you need to stay in the capital properly," Rong Jing shook his head and remained unmoved.
“Rong Jing!” Yun Qianyue glared at him.
"Be good, I can't bear for you to suffer with me. This flood is a major disaster; we'll have to endure harsh conditions. Your body has only just recovered, so it wouldn’t be easy for you to handle this. At that time, I’ll need to divide my attention between taking care of the flood and worrying about your condition." Rong Jing patted Yun Qianyue’s shoulder with concern in his eyes. "Even if I’m gone for a while, you can think of me as much as you want, but wait until it stops raining before coming after me."
Yun Qianyue frowned and said, "I'm not that weak! I've stayed in places with harsher conditions than this; surviving under those circumstances isn't a problem. I’m not inexperienced! Why can’t I endure hardship Don’t worry, I definitely won’t be the one to burden you. Who knows, maybe I could even help!"
"No way!" Rong Jing still shook his head.
Yun Qianyue was angry; she glared at Rong Jing and said, “You’ve tried every argument! How can you be so stubborn You don’t listen to anything!”
Rong Jing chuckled softly as he leaned in to kiss Yun Qianyue. She pushed him away with a huff, but he held her hand and pressed his lips firmly against hers, kissing her passionately until he finally let go and said hoarsely, "Listen! Some hardships are unnecessary; why endure them The rain will stop within two days, the roads will clear up after another day or so. Would it be better if you wait a bit to come find me then"
Yun Qianyue puffed and didn’t answer.
"Be good," Rong Jing kissed Yun Qianyue's lips once more, enjoying her soft sighs in his embrace. Since returning from the palace, he had known she would want to join him in handling the flood and refused to allow it despite countless attempts at persuasion. Only he knew how hard it was for him to do so; even though he knew she wasn’t weak, he still couldn't bear her suffering.
“Alright! Alright!” Yun Qianyue conceded grudgingly, “Who would want to go I’m just saying.”
Rong Jing chuckled and gently tapped her nose with his finger, looking indulgent. "You say one thing but mean another."
Yun Qianyue’s face turned slightly red; she admitted that she was indeed very clingy now. Previously independent, she had become increasingly dependent since truly being with him. However, she didn’t want to control this dependence and let it happen naturally. If someone willingly allows you to depend on them, it's a form of happiness; there’s nothing wrong with that. They remained silent as they lay in each other's arms.
Half an hour later, Rong Jing finally stood up reluctantly, leaving under Yun Qianyue’s reluctant gaze.
As she watched him leave Shallow Moon Pavilion, Yun Qianyue held the quilt and sat by the window, muttering to herself, "I really can't bear it! I want to follow but what should I do" After pondering for a moment, she recalled Rong Jing's words before leaving, “If you leave Shallow Moon Pavilion, I'll know.” She thus dismissed her thoughts angrily.
For several days, Rong Jing lived in Shallow Moon Pavilion. On the first night after his departure, Yun Qianyue couldn’t sleep due to lack of adjustment; she tossed and turned restlessly until late at night. Finally, with wide eyes staring at the ceiling, she angrily muttered, "Indeed, habit is a terrifying thing!"
Her voice was loud enough to wake Ling Lian and Yi Xue who had been monitoring her room all along. The two hurried out of their room and approached the door, asking inside, “Miss, do you need anything”
Hearing their sleepy voices outside made Yun Qianyue feel guilty; she quickly replied, "It's okay, go back to sleep!"
The two listened intently for a moment to confirm that everything was alright and then retreated.
Yun Qianyue wasn’t sleepy either but didn’t force herself to do so. She lay on the bed counting ants instead. This was the first time she had ever done this since her previous life, not even once. She didn’t know whether to pity herself for sleeping too much and thus having insomnia or marvel at Rong Jing’s influence over her. Undeniably, no matter how much sleep she got, as long as he was around, she could still fall asleep.
At dawn, it was still raining heavily. Yun Qianyue finally felt sleepy and fell into a doze.
The next day after Rong Jing’s departure, Yun Qianyue slept half the day away and read books for the other half but couldn’t fall asleep again that night.
On the third day since Rong Jing left, she spent her days reading as usual but still had insomnia in the evening. The only difference was that this time, she finally fell into a deep sleep late at night.
The fourth morning after his departure, the torrential rain of seven nights and days finally ceased.
At noon, Yun Qianyue woke up from her sleep and opened her eyes. Not hearing the sound of drizzling rain for a moment made her feel somewhat strange, but she was relieved overall. If this rain continued to fall, she would be afraid that the world would be flooded and that the end of days had arrived.
After lunch, Yun Qianyue received a message from Rong Jing through a carrier pigeon, which read: "I have reached Luo Shui City. I miss you, remember to think about me."
When Yun Qianyue saw the letter, she couldn't help but smile. Didn't everyone usually say they were fine and not to worry Why did he turn it into remembering to think of him This man!
Luo Shui City was five hundred miles away from the capital city, a city similar to Yun City. It was considered the largest among the eighteen states in the east due to its geographical location being somewhat low-lying with water彙聚from all directions. Without good embankments and drainage facilities, it was undoubtedly the most severely affected area among the cities of the eighteen eastern states. According to Ling Lian's relayed message from Hong Ge, there wasn't a single good place left, everywhere was flooded with water deeper than a person’s height. Some more sturdy houses were also floating in the floodwaters, and all the people were sitting on rooftops or mountain peaks; it was impossible to count how many had died.
Yun Qianyue stared at the familiar handwriting for quite some time before picking up her brush and writing: "I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, ten thousand thoughts of missing." After finishing, her face turned red. She thought it was a bit too unrestrained, so she added at the end: "Fake! I don’t want to."
She folded up the paper and tied it on Qing Ti's leg; then, as soon as Qing Ti flew out, Yun Qianyue hid her laughter by leaning onto the table. She thought that this was also pretty good, tasting the flavor of missing someone, adding a different feeling to the usual overly sweet days.
While Yun Qianyue was laughing, an outside breeze blew in; shortly after, the door was abruptly kicked open from the outside and someone rushed in. Ling Lian and Yi Xue heard the sound and didn't have time to stop them.
Yun Qianyue stopped her laughter, raised her head from where it was buried on the table, and saw that it was the young man Luo Yu. She froze for a moment.
"Yun Qianyue, come with me to a place!" The young man quickly came beside Yun Qianyue, his tone urgent as he reached out to pull her.
Yun Qianyue didn't move and dodged his hand. She asked, "Where are we going"
"To the He Gu County in Mei Ling Mountain." The young man said.
Yun Qianyue frowned and looked up at him. Seeing that he was impatient with a pale face, she raised her eyebrows. It had stopped raining outside but it was still overcast without sunlight, leaving a chilly feeling after the rain. "Why are we going there"
"There is something important." The young man said.
"Do you know how far He Gu County in Mei Ling Mountain is from the capital city It's eight hundred miles away! This isn’t a short distance like traveling from Dong Cheng to Xi Cheng," Yun Qianyue slowly replied. "If there’s something important, why are you dragging me along"
"It's just very important! I don't know the way; come with me." The young man said.
"Because you don’t know the way, should I go with you" Yun Qianyue shook her head. "I won’t."
"What can get me to take you along" The young man seemed to be waiting for Yun Qianyue's terms. "And if you come with me, I think I could take the closest route and arrive faster; your martial arts skills are high, protecting me on the way would also ensure safety. Also, apart from you, I don’t trust anyone else."
"So useful in my eyes!" Yun Qianyue suddenly smiled, glanced at him sideways with a cool expression. "I promised someone to stay in the capital city and not leave. What kind of price can you pay that will allow me to break my promise and go with you"
"The person you promised is Rong Jing, right" The young man looked at Yun Qianyue; seeing she didn’t answer, he took it as her confirmation and said happily: "I’ll help you destroy the marriage contract between Dong Hai Kingdom and Rong王府. Would that be a worthy price"
"Alright! Then I'll go with you!" Yun Qianyue slapped the table and made up her mind. Going to He Gu County would pass through Luo Shui City.
