Chapter 79: To Be A Wife For Life
eave a live captive.""He's just a big pile of **. Is he worth more than you What’s the point of interrogating him!" Cloud Qianyue was even angrier upon hearing this reason from him. She picked up an a...Volume 2, Chapter 79: A Life of Being a Wife
Upon hearing this, Yun Qianyue paused in rubbing her forehead and peered through the縫隙between her fingers to look at Rong Jing. She saw that there was genuine intent behind his smile, as if he really wanted to be with her on their wedding night. She rolled her eyes and closed them, ignoring him.
"Hm" Seeing Yun Qianyue not responding, Rong Jing's jade-like hand gently roamed over where it rested on her waist.
Yun Qianyue grabbed his hand and whispered sternly, "Behave! Don't forget that it’s broad daylight."
"So you mean it’s okay as long as it gets dark" Rong Jing arched an eyebrow, a hint of mischievous black light flashing in his clear eyes.
"No!" Yun Qianyue blushed and reminded him, "Don't forget your current body condition. If you don’t want to die from exhaustion, behave."
Rong Jing paused, the light in his eyes flickering for a moment before he sighed helplessly, “Yun Qianyue, I’m not that weak!”
Yun Qianyue snorted and warned him, "You haven’t yet come of age. You’re still a minor."
Rong Jing’s lips twitched unusually for once, then he said quietly, “The young men in the capital generally have their first bed partner arranged on their fifteenth birthday when they can also perform adult rites. Even though I haven't officially come of age, it's not far off now."
Yun Qianyue abruptly dropped her hand from her forehead and looked at Rong Jing with narrowed eyes, "You’ve had a bed partner"
"No!" Rong Jing shook his head. "Over these years while I was ill in bed, you were always watching over me. Would I not be the clearest to know if there has been someone else"
"Then it’s that you want a bed partner" Yun Qianyue raised an eyebrow dangerously; he would be dead if he dared say yes.
Rong Jing suddenly closed his eyes, seemingly extremely frustrated. "Yun Qianyue, the person I want is you!"
The danger in Yun Qianyue’s gaze vanished as she leaned closer to him with a smile playing on her lips. "These things depend on timing, opportunity, and people being in harmony. It's not yet time for that. Be good now; I’ll stay with you and go to sleep."
"Alright then!" Rong Jing sighed helplessly.
Yun Qianyue closed her eyes as well, but the smile on her lips couldn’t be suppressed. She liked his straightforwardness that didn't hide anything. That's how Rong Jing was; if he liked you or loved you, wanted you, he would clearly let you know. If he was angry, annoyed, afraid, tense, worried, he would also make it clear to you.
"When will the timing be right for all three" After a while with his eyes closed, Rong Jing spoke again as if contemplating something.
Yun Qianyue’s long lashes fluttered, reminding him, "Aren't you sleepy Why aren’t you sleeping yet"
Rong Jing hummed in response. Yun Qianyue couldn't make out what he said and was about to ask again when she heard his even breathing. She opened her eyes to look at him, then smiled before closing them once more. When would the timing be right She didn’t know either, but she believed that one day it would surely come—perhaps soon, just a few days later or not long after, perhaps later.
She originally hadn't been sleepy, yet being influenced by Rong Jing’s even breathing, her thoughts quickly cleared and she fell asleep very soon afterward.
The Moonlit Pavilion was quiet; the room was still. No one came to disturb them.
This sleep was deep and dreamless. When Yun Qianyue opened her eyes again, there was no one beside her. She turned to look around the room, which was empty. Sunlight streamed in through the window. She blinked a few times at the sunlight outside for a moment before touching the bedclothes beside her—they were already cold. Then she rubbed her forehead and called out, "Ling Lian, Yixue!"
"Miss, you’re awake" The two entered upon hearing her.
"How long have I been sleeping" Yun Qianyue looked at them; outside the window it was now sunny. She remembered she had gone to sleep in the afternoon.
"You’ve been asleep since yesterday afternoon and have slept through until now. It’s almost midday," Ling Lian said with a smile.
“When did Rong Jing leave” Yun Qianyue asked lazily, hugging her blanket.
Yixue took over the conversation and replied with a smile, "The Prince Consort Rong left this morning. He instructed us not to wake you up, saying that in recent days you mustn’t have had proper rest and told us to let you sleep."
Yun Qianyue smiled and, recalling something else, asked, "Did Ye Tianyi not play the flute last night"
Ling Lian and Yi Xue exchanged a look upon hearing this before turning to Yun Qianyue. Ling Lian whispered, "The Seventh Prince's flute music began as soon as Lord Jing opened his window, then it stopped."
So that’s how it was! No wonder I wasn’t woken up by the noise! Yun Qianyue twitched her mouth at this revelation. How could Ye Tianyi still play when he saw Rong Jing in her room Recalling Ye Tianyi, she let out a sigh.
"Miss, earlier on, the head steward came to inform you that Miss Yun Xianghe is clamoring to go to Marshal Feng’s residence and seek your permission. I told them you were sleeping and would reply after you woke up," Ling Lian reported to Yun Qianyue.
"Let her go!" Yun Qianyue thought about how she had already accepted the betrothal gifts, what could Old Marshal Feng do Turn a concubine into his wife Or say that he wanted to break off their engagement As an outsider and Yun Xianghe’s maternal grandfather, it was inappropriate for him to interfere in matters concerning Prince Wang. But now she had gotten involved and agreed to accept the betrothal gifts. If she went back on her word, then Old Marshal Feng wouldn’t care about his face anymore.
Ling Lian nodded and continued, "An hour ago, Empress Dowager sent a message saying that Emperor Wu was celebrating his 55th birthday. Although the death of Princess Qingwan and other matters were at hand, he wants to use this opportunity to remove bad luck from him and make it lively. He has decided to host a grand banquet on his birthday, allowing families in the capital to attend. Apart from Little Prince Wang Rang and Feng Gongzi’s martial arts duel, each family's lady must showcase their talents. The Emperor will surely designate you for this event. This year is definitely unavoidable; prepare yourself! And be sure to prepare a gift as well. Miss Qin of Chancellor’s Manor and the ladies in various families have already started preparing theirs. If you don’t come up with one, it won’t look good and others might talk about it."
"Alright, I understand," Yun Qianyue nodded.
"Miss, there are only a few days left until the Emperor’s 55th birthday. What gift should we prepare for you Just give us instructions!" Yi Xue hurriedly said.
There was no need; I already have an idea and it will be ready in time." Yun Qianyue shook her head and, thinking about Princess Qingwan, she asked, "How is the matter regarding Princess Qingwan handled"
"Miss, Emperor Wu chose a distant imperial tomb for Princess Qingwan. She was secretly buried last night. After such an incident, it would be unseemly to bury her in the imperial tomb or make it public," Ling Lian reported.
Mm-hmm! Yun Qianyue nodded, that’s what she had expected. The old Emperor only thought Princess Qingwan brought shame to his family and didn’t consider her as his daughter whom he loved the most. It was merely a straw mat now.
"What about Ye Tianyi How is it progressing" Yun Qianyue asked again.
It’s said that when you returned from the Ministry of Justice yesterday, Seventh Prince reported the matter to the Emperor and was instructed to thoroughly investigate. However, no one with ties to the coroner has been found; both his men and those under Duke De have been rigorously examined but no clues were discovered. This seems like another case without leads," Ling Lian said.
Yun Qianyue snorted coldly. "Cases that can’t be solved aren’t unsolvable, as long as someone did it, there must be traces to follow. It’s just that the culprit has powerful connections and covered up everything."
Ling Lian and Yi Xue nodded in agreement.
"What about Blackwood Fort" Yun Qianyue asked again. Ye Tianyi had dispatched people yesterday, surely there must be results today
“The Second Head of Blackwood Fort led the attack on Princess Qingwan’s body when Seventh Prince’s troops went to besiege them. The First Head was unaware and only found out later. It seems that their relationship has been strained for years; the Second Head often entered the capital, meeting with people unknown to the First Head. Although his men didn’t harm civilians or rob properties, they stole from unrighteous sources. However, since the Second Head is still the brother of the First Head, it’s inevitable for him to be implicated. All members of Blackwood Fort were captured by Seventh Prince's troops and exiled far away instead of being brought back to the capital," Ling Lian said.
“Mm-hmm!” Yun Qianyue nodded. Even now that the Second Head is dead, his brother must be familiar with his habits after all these years. The Second Head was definitely under someone’s orders; an investigation would certainly yield some clues. But since the old Emperor didn’t bring them back to the capital and exiled them instead, it shows he doesn’t want this matter to continue or spread.
"However, a Red Pavilion messenger reported that after leaving Yangguan City, the First Head was killed at an inn. Two of his most trusted subordinates died with him," Ling Lian added.
“Really” Yun Qianyue raised her eyebrows.
The Phoenix Pavilion sister sent a message saying they are investigating this matter and suspect that someone in the capital was behind it, targeting Prince Wang’s Manor. She advised you to be careful and said we must always accompany you outside," Ling Lian continued.
“Mm-hmm!” Yun Qianyue nodded. This matter is being handled by Ye Tianyi who is cautious and smart. He wouldn’t let people find loopholes unless he intended for them to do so to lure out the enemy. Does this mean he has some information now But the current Ye Tianyi is no longer the old one; even if he knows something, he won’t tell me.
“Miss, it’s getting late, time to bathe and eat!" Yi Xue said upon looking at the sky.
Yun Qianyue nodded and got up from bed. After washing up, they brought her lunch which she shared with them.
After finishing lunch, Ling Lian went to inform Yun Meng about Yun Xianghe going to Marshal Feng’s residence while Yi Xue cleared the table. With nothing else to do, Yun Qianyue took a book and curled up on the couch to read it.
In this half day, no one came to disturb them in Shallow Moon Manor, allowing Yun Qianyue to leisurely enjoy her time reading in peace.
When the evening fell, a nightingale flew into Shallow Moon Manor and entered the room after circling around the eaves. Just as Ling Lian and Yi Xue were about to catch it, Yun Qianyue called out, “It’s Feng Jin’s messenger!”
The two of them immediately stopped.
The Skylark landed on Yun Qianyue's shoulder, tilted its head to look at Ling Lian and Yi Xue. After rotating its eyes a few times, it looked at Yun Qianyue, chirping at her twice before using its beak to pick up the object tied to its leg.
Yun Qianyue put down her book and held the bird in her hand. She saw that both of the bird's legs were bound with pieces of paper. Reaching out, she untied them for it. The Skylark seemed to take a sigh of relief before jumping out of Yun Qianyue’s hand; its body went limp as it lay on top of her leg and closed its eyes.
"This bird is really interesting!" Ling Lian said with a smile.
"Skylarks are the most difficult to raise. It's quite a feat that Feng Jin used one for sending messages," Yi Xue also said smilingly.
“It seems exhausted!” Yun Qianyue glanced at the bird on her leg with amusement as well, "People who nurture creatures like them must be equally lazy. In the past, whenever he went out, he never rode a horse and relied solely on me to carry him around in my arms. What a big man has no appreciation for women. Just look at this bird. Feng’s family isn’t too far from here, yet it’s exhausted like this.”
The two of them laughed.
Yun Qianyue didn’t say anything more as she opened the paper strips. She saw that one was written in Chinese pinyin, stating that everything is fine, and another said ‘don’t forget to make me ice cream’. Yun Qianyue looked at both of them speechlessly but it seemed that Feng Jin’s return to Feng family had gone well too.
“Young Miss, shall we reply” Ling Lian and Yi Xue also saw the writing on the strips. They asked Yun Qianyue inquiringly.
They didn’t recognize what was written; they thought it might be a coded message But such codes left no trace to be followed by others. Generally, different secret messengers from various sects and the government would have their own methods of transmitting messages, so one could deduce which sect or organization a messenger came from as well as glean information from the content of the message. However, Yun Qianyue had never seen this type of code before.
“Yes, send a reply,” Yun Qianyue nodded at Ling Lian and said, “Go to the dark compartment in the northern wall and get me my quill pen and two sheets of paper.”
Ling Lian nodded and walked over to the northern wall. She pressed lightly and found a feather pen made with great craftsmanship inside. She was surprised by its beauty as she took out two pieces of paper from it and returned to Yun Qianyue’s side, saying, "Young Miss, this writing instrument looks extremely handy and easy to carry around. How did you make it"
"I’ll teach both of you later on," Yun Qianyue smiled as she took the feather pen and paper from Ling Lian.
The two women nodded happily at her with a smile.
Yun Qianyue picked up the quill pen and wrote in Chinese pinyin on one of the small sheets of paper, “Take care. Do not act rashly.” After finishing that she wrote on another sheet, “Your ice cream won’t be forgotten.” Finished, she explained to Ling Lian and Yi Xue who were looking at her puzzledly, "This is called Chinese pinyin. If you want to learn it, I’ll teach you for the next few days."
“Thank you very much Young Miss!” The two women bowed.
Yun Qianyue smiled as she was about to tie up the notes on the bird’s legs when light footsteps were heard outside. She stopped and looked out, seeing Rong Jing enter her room. His white brocade robe shimmered in the setting sun; he walked slowly as if the magnolias in Yun Qianyue's Courtyard bowed their heads bashfully.
Seeing Rong Jing come in, Ling Lian and Yi Xue exchanged glances before walking out to the door. They greeted him with a bow. Rong Jing nodded at them and pushed back the curtains. He stepped into the room; as he did so, Ling Lian quickly shut the door and she and Yi Xue quietly slipped out of the room.
“Where have you been today Have you returned from the palace” Yun Qianyue asked Rong Jing.
"No. I went to the Council Hall," Rong Jing said as he stood in front of Yun Qianyue, glancing at the notes she held in her hand with a raised brow.
“To the Council Hall With your body still unwell, shouldn’t you be resting” Yun Qianyue frowned.
"In recent days, envoys have been coming to the capital. The emperor asked me to handle the reception arrangements. Although none of them has arrived in the capital yet, preparations should already be underway," Rong Jing said as his gaze never left the notes Yun Qianyue was holding. He then looked at her and asked, "What are these characters"
"Chinese pinyin!" Yun Qianyue replied.
Rong Jing raised an eyebrow, “Whose letter is this”
“Feng Jin’s,” Yun Qianyue said honestly.
Rong Jing reached out to pick up the two notes that Feng Jin had left behind and took a look at them. He then grabbed the ones Yun Qianyue wrote from her hand, compared them with the other letters and pointed to several of the same characters on the note she wrote asking, "What does this mean"
“Ice cream!” Yun Qianyue found it rather amusing looking at those three identical Chinese pinyin characters.
"What did he say What did you reply" Rong Jing asked again.
Yun Qianyue fluttered her eyelids and read Feng Jin's letter and her reply out loud.
Rong Jing nodded, slowly sat down without saying a word, and stretched out his hand to tie the two letters Yun Qianyue had written onto the leg of the Skylark. His movements were not fast but he finished tying them quickly. After tying them, he let the Skylark continue sleeping on Yun Qianyue's lap before suddenly grabbing it up, lightly flicking his wrist and throwing it out the window.
Yun Qianyue was taken aback as she looked outside the window and saw the Skylark being thrown far away like a parabola. It had fallen into a daze from sleep and nearly fell to the ground, but when it woke up, it flapped its wings and flew high into the sky. She turned her gaze back and looked at Rong Jing.
Rong Jing wiped his hands with a handkerchief and said in a warm tone to Yun Qianyue, "I also want to learn Chinese pinyin."
"You don't need to right This is just the Wind Pavilion's method of sending letters," Yun Qianyue looked at Rong Jing with amusement.
"But there are contents unrelated to the Wind Pavilion in them. I must know, otherwise after our marriage, some villains might be scheming against my wife and I wouldn't have any idea about it," Rong Jing said seriously.
Yun Qianyue fluttered her eyelids again, "Relax, Mr. Rong, there's no one in the world more beautiful than you! I like beauties; generally speaking, I won't be committing adultery."
"But what if a red plum climbs over my wall" asked Rong Jing.
"Cut it off!" Yun Qianyue spat out two words. If anyone dared to climb the wall of Rong Jing's house, she wouldn't forgive them.
"Hmm, in order to better cut down that red plum, we must find its root cause. So, should I learn or not" Rong Jing asked with a smile.
Yun Qianyue thought of the different meanings behind 'red plum', and seeing how seriously Rong Jing was taking it, she smiled, "Then let's do that!"
"Let’s start right now!" Rong Jing pulled Yun Qianyue to her feet and walked towards the table.
Yun Qianyue thought that she never expected to one day become Rong Jing’s teacher. Following him to the table, she saw him unfold a piece of calligraphy paper, roll up his sleeves, and grind ink with graceful movements. She tilted her head as she watched him, wondering how many times had it taken for this man to fall in love with her There was one saying that went well – cherish the person before you. She willingly cherished him.
“Finished!” Rong Jing finished grinding the ink and smiled at Yun Qianyue.
Yun Qianyue picked up a brush, wrote Chinese pinyin letters on the paper, then pointed to each letter in turn as she pronounced them for Rong Jing. After that, she began teaching him how to use it. Half an hour later, after finishing her explanation, she looked at Rong Jing and asked, "Have you learned"
“I didn't expect these simple letters would have such profound uses,” Rong Jing praised.
"Of course, Chinese is naturally profound! The Chinese civilization has a history of thousands of years; it’s extensive and profound. No other script can compare to the beauty of Chinese characters," Yun Qianyue said proudly.
Rong Jing raised his eyebrows slightly as he smiled faintly, "Does this mean you know other scripts"
Yun Qianyue blinked her eyes and met Rong Jing's gaze with a smile as she nodded, "What I know several languages. Do you plan to learn all of them They're certainly not as simple as these Chinese pinyin letters."
"Learn!" Rong Jing slowly nodded his head and said the word.
“Those are useless things; even if you learn them, they won’t be useful. Forget about it!” Yun Qianyue waved her hand.
"Whatever you know, I want to learn," Rong Jing looked at Yun Qianyue, "Everything of yours is mine!"
“Arrogant!” Yun Qianyue smiled and scolded him.
"Will you teach me" asked Rong Jing.
"Call me teacher for a start," Yun Qianyue said. At this time, she should seize the opportunity to squeeze out of him what she could; she knew best that opportunities would expire if not seized at the right moment.
“Teacher!” Rong Jing called her.
"Good boy! You are a teachable student," Yun Qianyue nodded with satisfaction as she saw Rong Jing looking deeply into her eyes and smiling. She turned her face away and asked, "What are you planning
"Have you heard the saying 'Once your teacher, always your husband'" Rong Jing smiled as he looked at Yun Qianmo.
The corner of Yun Qianmo's mouth twitched. She corrected him: "Sir Rong, it’s actually ‘once your teacher, always your father’. The father in the word."
"With me, that applies," said Rong Jing as he wrapped his arms around her slim waist, "You won't be able to escape from me."
“I never wanted to run away anyway,” Yun Qianmo gave him a wry glance and pushed him away. She took back the paper she had laid out and asked him, “English, German, French, Russian, Spanish, Italian… Manchu, Tibetan, Zhuang, Miao, Yao... Which one should you learn first”
Rong Jing's eyes flickered slightly, "Manchu, Tibetan, Zhuang, Miao, Yao… What are these languages"
“They’re ethnic minority languages!” Yun Qianmo thought to herself that this was indeed something befitting of Rong Jing.
"There are people living in the southern and northern frontiers as well as the small border areas of Southern Liang and Western Yan whose language differs from ours. Do you know who they are" Rong Jing raised his eyebrow.
“The north has Manchu, Southern Liang and Southern Frontier have Tibetans and Miao people, Western Yan has Zhuangs, and there is also Yao in the south of Heavenly Saint,” Yun Qianmo said with a smile. “But as far as I know, these ethnic groups don’t exist yet so they are all considered barbarians.”
Rong Jing blinked his eyes, "Do you understand their languages"
“You could say that!” Yun Qianmo nodded with a smile and raised her eyebrow at him. “So, Sir Rong, do you think you've found something precious now”
"Does Night Tianyi know about this" Rong Jing asked without smiling.
“No idea!” Yun Qianmo naturally knew what he meant. In this world, even though Heavenly Saint had unified its territory, there were still places it couldn’t control because of language barriers. The people in these places would be considered outsiders to the empire. Knowing all these minority languages was certainly most advantageous for a ruler.
“It's best if he doesn't know!” Rong Jing let out a breath.
"You're scared" Yun Qianmo raised an eyebrow.
“Not afraid, but it would add unnecessary complications,” said Rong Jing with a shake of his head and a mild expression. “When someone's obsession is deep and unfulfilled, they often do things beyond the norm. Night Tianyi’s fixation on you is too strong. If he can't have you, then no one else will be able to either. The more he knows about you, the worse it is for you.”
Yun Qianmo was silent. She had nothing left to say to Night Tianyi.
"Let's start with these languages," said Rong Jing after a moment of silence.
“Fine,” Yun Qianmo nodded and began writing on the paper starting with Manchu from Northern Frontier. She felt that one day she would have to confront Night Tianyi, so she hoped that her efforts in helping people and establishing his northern base wouldn't come to naught. But she wished Night Tianyi wasn’t so stubborn.
The room was quiet as one taught while the other learned, a warm and gentle scene.
As night fell and darkness filled the house, Rong Jing and Yun Qianmo stopped their lesson.
Just then, Yun Meng hurried into Shallow Moon Pavilion. His alarmed voice reached them before he entered, “Miss Shallow Moon! Something terrible has happened!”
Yun Qianmo thought that she used to think Yun Meng was rather composed for his age, but now he seemed more and more panicked. She looked outside and asked in a clear voice, "What's wrong"
Yun Meng entered the courtyard immediately and said loudly, “The Prince of Filial Piety sent word that Miss Cui Xianghe attempted suicide after failing to terminate her engagement at his residence!”
Yun Qianmo was stunned. "You’re saying Cui Xianghe tried to kill herself when she failed to break off the engagement"
"Yes!" Yun Meng nodded.
“Is she dead” asked Yun Qianmo. Running all the way to the gate of Prince Filial Piety and attempting suicide was certainly something Cui Xianghe could do, but Yun Qianmo couldn’t think of a reason for this herself. It must have been someone giving her advice from behind the scenes, likely General Feng since he was in such a position that he surely wasn't ignorant of politics.
“Fortunately, the Prince's guards discovered her in time and stopped her before any serious injury occurred, though she did hurt her neck. She is currently being treated at the residence and it’s unclear if there will be lasting harm,” Yun Meng said. “The Prince has sent someone to invite you over.”
Turns out she didn't die! Yun Qianyue looked at Rong Jing and asked, "What do you think"
"Since you accepted the dowry from Prince Xiongqin's Manor, Yun Xianghe is now a part of Prince Xiongqin’s family." Rong Jing said indifferently.
"Tell Prince Xiongqin that my elder sister is now his betrothed. Let him handle it!" Sitting still, Yun Qianyue instructed from inside the room.
"Miss, when Prince Xiongqin sent someone over, he just happened to meet up with Your Highness at the time. After hearing about this matter, Your Highness rushed to Prince Xiongqin’s Manor." Yun Meng hesitated for a moment but still told Yun Qianyue this information: "Even though my lady is an illegitimate daughter, she is still Your Highness's daughter…"
"Since Father went to handle it, just leave it to him. You can go now!" Yun Qianyue cut off Yun Meng’s words.
Seeing that Yun Qianyue no longer had anything else to say, Yun Meng could only retreat back outside.
Yun Qianyue watched as Yun Meng hurriedly left the Qingyue Study. She squinted her eyes and looked out of the window at the darkening night sky. Leaning towards Rong Jing, she softly asked, "Rong Jing, what does my mother look like in your memory"
"She was a breathtaking beauty with an unparalleled intelligence." Rong Jing spoke eight words.
"Why did she marry Father" Yun Qianyue asked again.
Rong Jing’s eyes flickered slightly, but he didn’t reply.
“What about my father” Yun Qianyue took her gaze away from the window and looked at Rong Jing.
Rong Jing seemed to ponder for a moment before smiling and said, “I first met Prince Yun when I was three years old. At that time, Prince Yun…” Seeing Yun Qianyue looking at him intently, he paused and smiled again: "Look at the cloud-covered mountain. That’s how Prince Yun looked back then."
Yun Qianyue's thoughts turned over as Rong Jing had been three years old when she spoke for the first time. She pursed her lips and asked, “What about now”
"The current Prince Yun…" It seemed that he was pondering on how to phrase his words. After a momentary pause, he said: "He’s still the Prince!"
“How do you mean" Yun Qianyue raised her eyebrows.
"He fits the identity of a prince," Rong Jing replied in one sentence.
Yun Qianyue lowered her head and lightly tapped on the table, causing the sound of metal to reverberate. After a moment, she smiled faintly and said, "That’s right, he fits the identity of a prince. But it’s only an identity."
Rong Jing remained silent, lost in thought.
At that moment, a mountain sparrow flew into the room from outside. After flying inside, it looked around and warily glanced at Rong Jing before settling down on Yun Qianyue’s hand which was resting on the table.
Rong Jing shot a glance at the bird and his gaze fell upon the note tied to its leg; however, he didn’t say anything.
Yun Qianyue untied the paper from the sparrow's foot. She saw that it had been written in letters: "Yun Xianghe is dead! I killed her!" Below was also written in pinyin: "Third Young Master!"
"He’s only taken over Feng Pavilion for two days, right He learns things pretty quickly," Rong Jing glanced at the writing.
“Is this time General Feng and Prince Xiongqin’s Manor considered enemies” Yun Qianyue looked at those words. She was thinking about how Third Young Master had pulled off a very clever move. First, he demoted Yun Xianghe to concubine status; she knew that Yun Xianghe wouldn’t agree with this development, and General Feng would certainly not be happy either, but since the general himself agreed to marry his granddaughter to Third Young Master, he couldn't muster up enough face to ask Prince Xiongqin for a divorce. Thus, he gave Yun Xianghe some advice. And then Yun Xianghe ran over to Prince Xiongqin’s Manor and tried to commit suicide in order to force them into canceling the engagement; however, Third Young Master seized this opportunity and made her fake death become real, costing her life. Yun Xianghe probably wouldn’t understand the relationship between all these events until she died.
"Hmm!" Rong Jing nodded with a smile, "Smart all his life but foolish for an instant! General Feng’s family will be mourning this time!"
Yun Qianyue’s eyes flickered. She was thinking about how General Feng had gotten old and couldn’t bear such continuous blows: First, Concubine Feng from the Wind Palace was demoted to concubine status; secondly, Imperial Consort Feng caught the purple grass disease and was secretly buried by Night Tianqing, and now Yun Xianghe’s fake death became real, costing her life. His daughter, granddaughter, and grandniece had all run into trouble one after another. If he didn’t hang a white sail, what was waiting for him She just didn't know when the old emperor would do so.
